Meet Rep. Annie Haws
A Proud Idahoan Protecting the Idaho We Know and Love
Annie Haws is a lifelong advocate, experienced attorney, and community-centered Idahoan working to protect the Idaho we love: one where families thrive, workers are respected, schools are strong, communities are safe, and our personal freedoms are honored.
A former clerk for federal judges and lead counsel for Idahoans United for Women and Families, Annie has spent her career expanding access to justice, defending constitutional rights, and safeguarding Idaho’s land, water, and public institutions.
Her work with the Nez Perce Tribe helped protect over 43,000 acres of tribal land from environmental degradation, and her advocacy has strengthened Idaho’s ballot initiative process and access-to-justice pathways.
As your Representative for District 16, Annie is fighting for strong public schools, affordable housing, livable wages, fair taxes, quality healthcare, responsible growth, and real protection for Idaho families. She believes the government should open doors, not create barriers—and that Idaho thrives when we invest in people, protect our freedoms, and work together to solve real problems.
Annie lives in Boise’s Winstead Park neighborhood with her husband, Mo, and their dogs, Stanley and Jac. They enjoy skiing, canoeing, cooking with family, and exploring Idaho’s public lands.
I’m here to protect the Idaho we believe in: strong communities, fair opportunities, and the freedom for every Idahoan to live with dignity.

My Journey to Public Service
I’ll be the first to admit that I never intended to run for office. But, like so many Idahoans, I felt increasing urgency about this unique moment in our shared history.
When a seat in District 16 became available, I had to decide if being concerned from the sidelines was enough for me. It wasn’t. Now I’m proud to show up and do the hard work advocating for policies that benefit all Idahoans.
Today, Idahoans are facing overlapping crises: affordability, healthcare, access to education, and heightened and partisan attacks on reproductive and civil rights, LGBTQ+ rights, and the protection of our public lands. Yet, I continue to witness infighting and legislators who are out of touch with the needs of everyday individuals, families, and business owners who also call this beautiful state home. It’s time to do something about it.
I’m honored to serve District 16 alongside my Democratic colleagues Ali Rabe and Sonia Galaviz, and bring pragmatic know-how and civility to the issues facing Idahoans today. If any of this sounds like something you also value, I encourage you to get involved by donating to my campaign or joining my mailing list to keep up with the latest news, initiatives, and volunteer opportunities.
